{"id":1164,"date":"2022-04-26T12:51:05","date_gmt":"2022-04-26T16:51:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/collegeavalonfrench.clickglitz.com\/?p=1164"},"modified":"2022-06-03T17:20:19","modified_gmt":"2022-06-03T21:20:19","slug":"le-nombre-detudiants-internationaux-au-canada-a-rebondi-pres-des-niveaux-davant-la-pandemie-en-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/collegeavalon.com\/es\/le-nombre-detudiants-internationaux-au-canada-a-rebondi-pres-des-niveaux-davant-la-pandemie-en-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"El n\u00famero de estudiantes internacionales en Canad\u00e1 se recuper\u00f3 cerca de los niveles pre-pand\u00e9micos en el 2.021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bought you in part by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/monitor.icef.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">ICEF Monitor<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Here are the highlights:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>New data shows that the number of international students going to Canadian education institutions in 2021 was nearly as high as in 2019, the year before the pandemic&nbsp;<\/li><li>Fewer Chinese, South Korean, and Vietnamese students are travelling to Canada for their studies, but Canadian educators are receiving increasing numbers of students from a wider range of countries and regions including Europe and Latin America&nbsp;<\/li><li>The number of Canadian study visas issued to international students in 2021 is down only by 2.6% compared with 2019, representing a robust recovery for the sector&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The number of international students in Canada rebounded significantly in 2021, with a 17% increase over the previous year that effectively offsets <a href=\"https:\/\/monitor.icef.com\/2021\/03\/canadas-foreign-enrolment-fell-nearly-20-in-2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the 17% decline from 2020<\/a>. According to new Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) data, 621,565 study visas were held by international students attending programmes of at least six months\u2019 duration in 2021 \u2013 almost as many as before the pandemic in 2019, when 638,380 students received study visas.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, there are clear indications that Canadian educators are making progress in diversifying their international enrolments at the same time as the number of Chinese students in Canada has been declining.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the table, we have also included information on 2019\u20132021 percentage growth to provide a longer-term perspective. Source: IRCC<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The table above includes only markets sending more than 4,500 students \u2013 but there are also interesting trends to be observed in (currently) smaller Latin American markets for Canada. For example:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Bolivia: Up 152.6% (from 95 to 240)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Chile: Up 132.6% (from 660 to 1,535)&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Peru: Up 112.9% (from 890 to 1,895)&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Top 10 countries to choose Canada as a study destination in 2021<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Students from the following countries accounted for the largest number of study visas in 2021. Overall, the year saw significant growth from seven of these markets, notable decreases from China and South Korea, and stability from Brazil.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>India: 217,410 (y-o-y +21%)&nbsp;<\/li><li>China: 105,265 (-10%)&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>France: 26,630 (+46%)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Iran: 16,900 (+21%)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Vietnam: 16,285 (-14%)&nbsp;<\/li><li>South Korea: 15,805 (-13%)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Philippines: 15,545 (+115%)&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>US: 14,325 (+14%)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Nigeria: 13,745 (+30%)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Mexico: 11,550 (+81%)&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Brazil and Bangladesh fell just outside of the top ten sending markets for 2021 with 11,120 and 9,935 study permits held by Brazilian and Bangladeshi students, respectively.
